Captivity and Freedom by KunstFeuer

There are types of captivity, but the type that abounds today comes from addiction and abuse. Our actions in life do one of two things; they bind us or they make us free. By making the correct choices we can continue to grow, progress, and live unhindered by cumbersome baggage. It will not always be easy, but it will create a freer, more complete life. If we constantly chose things that drag us down, we find ourselves stumbling along in an ungainly, jarring fashion.

Like the horse, they move forward, but without grace or finesse and with more effort and trial than another who gives to the subtle pressure and gentle guidance of a knowing hand. While it might initially be viewed as a restriction, the guidance received allows the horse to move with more fluid grace and balance than initially thought possible. Not only does he become graceful, fluid, and balanced on the ground, but carrying the extra weight of a rider, the burden of another, he moves effortlessly.

Medium: Charcoal on three pieces of 22"X30" printmaking paper.
Tags: Horse freedom charcoal Rider captivity
Kywehn Over Farmland by KunstFeuer

Kywehn perched on a tree overlooking some farmland (which doesn't really exist on Tae-Kahn, but it was for an assignment). We were told to create a composition with organic and geometric shapes and this was the result.

Various hard and soft chalk pastels on Canson's approx. 19"X25" Mi-teines paper (smoother side).

Medium: Hard and soft chalk pastels
Tags: gryphon griffin Griffon tae-kahn gryphin
It looks more impressive in person, I assure you. I also wanted to put more time into this, but other things are pressing. Just the same, I managed to draw a sunrise and it makes me happy.

Broken Window by KunstFeuer

One of the pieces I did during my Drawing II class during the first Summer session at ASU. Hard and Soft Pastels on Canson paper, approx. 19"X25".

Our assignment was to draw a window, showing something of the interior as well as the exterior, and Fiona Apple's song, "Window" came to mind and played in my head as i worked on the piece.

Mineit Dieties by KunstFeuer

We had a texture assignment for my 2d design class. I chose to do a stained glass-like image of the six Mineit frineir gods.

Tiryu is the blue-robed figure welcoming a new spirit into its body. Kabba is dismissing an old spirit..

The other four are represented by the elements. Yov (m) is Fire, Dohn (m) is responsible for wind and weather, Kodra (f) deals with water, and Muhrnet pertains to earth.

This was done using the set of 24 Staedtler Ergosoft colored pencils. I was trying to prove something to myself. That I could work with such a limited pallete using colored pencils and that I was capable of rendering something very realisticly as well as being able to portray a subject somewhat abstractly. I believe that it was extremely successful and I'm quite happy with it.

Lantairvlea Conbadge by KunstFeuer

A sample conbadge I did for myself of Lantair. The scanner ate the color a little and there's actually a little more variation in the blues.

They are $15.00, including shipping and a badge holder, contact me if you're interested.

Lantairvlea and Guenitha are © CERT

Medium: staedtler ergosoft colored pencils
Tags: conbadge tae-kahn guenitha lanteirvlea
Oncoming Storm by KunstFeuer

Sray watched the clouds gather over the plains outside her home. They built themselves into a massive force as they prepared to charge the distant mountains, mere smudges on the horizon.

The weather mirrored the turmoil beginning to brew within her. Life had never been easy, but it had been consistant. Now she was on the edge, witnessing the calm before her own personal storm.

Sray is the main character/protagonist for one of the many stories I am currently working on. Although this scene isn't specifically mentioned in the story, she is often found sitting at the window, thinking and dreaming of the world outside the one she knows. She is a part-bred Clamon, her father was Clamon and her mother a human, she can take human form, but her "natural" form is the one shown here.

Several hours working off and on with pencils on Strathmore's drawing paper.

My half of an art trade with C. Martin on Artwanted. This is her character Neosho, a wolfxsquirrel demon. I think I went a little overboard. It just didn't want to be background-less. Colored pencils (pentech and prisma) on bristol board.
