My half of an art trade with C. Martin on Artwanted. This is her character Neosho, a wolfxsquirrel demon. I think I went a little overboard. It just didn't want to be background-less. Colored pencils (pentech and prisma) on bristol board.

Hello there, Cori-dear! As much as I love this one to death and definitely appreciate how much time and effort went into it, I think that perhaps outlining the character with some black (or white..) would have really made it stand out even moreso. Thoughts?

I've been avoiding outlines lately, trying to push my ability to represent shape and form without relying on the blatant line. It makes it a little more challenging and forces me to put more effort into it.

There's nothing wrong with that, of course. It is good to challenge one's self.

I try to keep in mind that everything is made out of some sort of line, when it comes to drawing. A thick line is a powerful thing.
