Large pastel drawing of Troech taking a moment to watch the sun rise.
It looks more impressive in person, I assure you. I also wanted to put more time into this, but other things are pressing. Just the same, I managed to draw a sunrise and it makes me happy.

Thank you! What I usually do is do the bases and blending with the soft chalk pastels and then going over for the details and such using the hard ones. It's a nice way to work, or at least I enjoy it. Another thing to consider is working on descent paper, it has to have some tooth or you can't build the colors at all and they lack intensity. Canson makes some good paper and Amperstand has awesome "Pastelbord" that is amazing to work on. There's another paper that I just purchased a packet of, but haven't had the chance to try yet.

Who, when I try to use pastels it just turns out to be one,great, BIG,mess. Obviously that doesn't happen to you! ;b
